problems with a work medical

I am currently awaiting a tribunal hearing re my work, but I also have to make regular wasted journeys to Ipswich to have another medical. The trouble is that this is now dragging out too long. I was recently taken by ambulance from my medical to the local A&E, but they simply rescheduled my appointment.. I feel that, after months of my not being able to attend work due to ill health and their cancelling my appointments. I should not be required to prove anything other than what they should already know. It is my experience that this system is a farce and clearly not geared up to consider how failures impact upon the health of the individual being assessed. My GP is required to supply sick notes, but these seem to have little weight, because the medical assessor is usually a nurse. How can a nurse undermine years of doctor and consultant opinion during an assessment lasting little more than one hour? Whatever the reason, it is the claimant being assessed who suffers during the process. I am hoping that you can help in some way. Please can an employment solicitor contact me.

problems with slander at work

I am part of an investigation at work which also involved the police as a result of allegations of corruption and bribery made against the department I work in. The police interviewed me and many of my colleagues but only as witnesses with no one being charged with anything. I am currently suspended as part of the investigation and I await the outcome of allegations of breaching procurement regulations. I work for a local council in Bath and the dept I work for carries out repairs to private housing which the owners paid for and as a result of the allegations made against the department many complaints were made about the standard of work and overcharging. Very few of the complaints were justified but the local papers jumped on the band wagon and a campaign started against our department and against some of the staff. Comments where owners exchanged their views which were pretty harmless but recently my name appeared in a comment by one of the main contributors. In it, reference was made to a private piece of information mentioning that I had been receiving cosmetic surgery, which I had around 2000. The comment also made reference to the expensive nature of the work and that my surgeon charges a lot. A separate comment was also made using the word "tiller" which is a sailing term, as it was pointed out that I sail but the word was stated as "till er" with a space to suggest my hand was in the till. Can you advise how I stand on defamation as I think the comments made are meant to suggest I have been corrupt and meant to back up and justify the campaign of a corrupt council department?
